Students' artwork to be on display

SAMMY SUPPORTERS — On Monday, Oct. 6, a group of veterans held a rally at the Cherokee County Veterans Memorial in support of Cherokee County Veterans Affairs Officer Sammy Willard. Hamrick Mills leases facility to S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation Department

Bobby Lyons, president of the Spartanburg-based real estate brokerage firm The Lyons Group, said Hamrick Mills has agreed to lease the 33,241-square-foot facility at 226 Hyatt Street to the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department. GIVING A THEME AT TIMKEN— Employees were in a festive mood Tuesday at The Timken Company's Gaffney Bearing Plant during the company's United Way celebration. To promote its 2008 United Way campaign across the country, Timken customized a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to be raffled at Timken facilities around the United States through Oct. 19. The motorcycle was on display at the local Timken facility. A number of employees took part in the raffle, with their ticket purchases going to the United Way. Their generosity was rewarded with ice cream and dessert items from Dairy Queen. The plant is an annual donor to the nonprofit organization. More ...
Burglar strikes Drug and Alcohol Abuse office
The Gaffney Police Department said a burglar broke into the Cherokee County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission on West Montgomery Street but may have left the implements of the crime behind. According to a police report, officers responded to a burglar alarm at the West Montgomery Street office early Thursday morning and discovered the rear door had been forced open. More ...
