Full day of activities part of Gaffney High homcoming festivities
Week long celebration culminates with game vs. Nation Ford at new Reservation
Homecoming is a time-honored tradition for returning alumni at Gaffney High School.
Year after year, the Homecoming events reflect the memories of the "good old days" of Gaffney High School.
A full day of celebration and activities has been planned for Friday, October 17. A morning reception and registration for returning alumni will be held at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria.
Copies of the Indian Post, featuring articles and photos of honored classes, will be distributed during the reception.
At 9:30 a.m., a homecoming assembly will honor alumni from the classes of 1938, '48, '58, '68, '78, '88, '98 and the twenty-fifth reunion of the class of 1983. Alumni of those years from Granard High School will also be welcomed. Skits, dancing and singing with music selected from the actual year of graduation will feature student and faculty entertainers.
In addition, the members of the Homecoming Court, the players, and sponsors will be presented during the assembly.
A pep rally will be held in the afternoon in the school gymnasium, featuring the Gaffney High Band of Gold and Varsity Cheerleaders.
Megan Gallman At 7:30 p.m., the Homecoming game between the Gaffney Indians and Nation's Ford High School will be held at W.K. Brumbach Stadium.
The highlight of the halftime ceremonies will be the naming and crowning of the homecoming queen, selected by the 2008 senior class. The faculty chairperson of the homecoming events is Betsy Jolliff.
The homecoming committee consists of Lori Allison, Susan Baxter-Ferguson, Ansel Belue, Kathy Brannon, Dondi Brown, Randy Byers, David Clary, Christina Cody, Ben Fuller, Todd Gardner, George Hall, Julie Hudson, Mark Huff, Luther Hunter, Leslie Kirtsey, Jeff Kuntz, Morris Miller, Haley Peay, Hyacinth Phillips, AJ Quinn, Katie Ramsey, Kathy Sarratt, Paige Shearin, Vicki Tomlinson, Heather Walker, and Alice Wallace.
