AIR TRANSPORT — A Gaffney woman was rushed to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center by helicopter Tuesday afternoon following a crash on 13th Street. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the woman lost consciousness behind the wheel due to a medical problem and went off the right side of the road, where her vehicle struck a tree. The Regional One medical helicopter landed at nearby Alma Elementary School. The woman's condition wasn't immediately known Tuesday afternoon but her injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening.
