Woman injured in school bus accident files lawsuit The Cherokee County School District and the South Carolina Department of Education were sued Monday in Cherokee County Court of Common Pleas for injuries a woman sustained in an October 2006 school bus accident. According to the lawsuit, Rita C. Turner was injured Oct. 18, 2006, when the vehicle was struck head-on by an oncoming school bus on Brickhouse Road. The suit contends the school bus drove left off the center line before the collision. The suit seeks unspecified damages against both the school district and the Department of Education, claiming Turner's injuries, pain and suffering and permanent disability were the result of the negligence and carelessness of the school bus driver. The suit claims the driver was negligent and careless in driving in the wrong lane of travel, in driving too fast for conditions, in failing to take evasive action and in failing to keep the bus under proper control. |
