Nannie Lou Whelchel Halford, 78, of 412 Barclay Avenue, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2008, at her residence.

Born in Pacolet, she was the wife of Robert Blaine Halford and daughter of the late Robert Lee "Little Rob" and Eunice Bridges Whelchel.

She was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Musgrove Mill.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Vickie Ann Mathis of Myrtle Beach and Sandra D. Halford of Gaffney; her sister, Louise Wyatt of Gaffney; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mrs. Halford was preceded in death by a son, Harold Dwayne Halford, and several brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15 at the Shuford Hatcher Chapel at Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of Sandra Halford, 311 Goucher School Road in Gaffney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cherokee County Unit, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, S.C. 29615.

Arrangements are in the care of Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home at Frederick Memorial Gardens.
