Class reunions

Calling ALL members of Gaffney High Class 1973. Reunion

The 2008 FII Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, in the former Rec Club at the Shelby plant. Registration begins at 2 p.m. Gene LeGrand and Carl Spangler will give a brief welcome at 3 p.m.

A meal, catered by Linwood Caterers, will be served from 3:15-4:15 p.m.; cost is $10 per person or $20 per couple.

Events

The Cherokee County YMCA is having an open house launch party introducing two new fitness programs, Turbo Kick and Hip- Hop Hustle.

All fitness levels are welcome to take part in the kick boxing activities and "shake yo' booty" hip-hop dancing.

YMCA also has yoga classes for those looking to relieve a little stress.

Launch party times are from 8-10 a.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The things of the night will be gathered at Bar H Arena in Boiling Springs, N.C., on Oct. 17 and 18, 24 and 25, and 31. The event will begin at dark. If you want the best in family fun, the annual Bar H Haunted Hayride is for you. The 2008 edition has new scares to test your nerves and fears.

A maze is also available for those wanting to test their skills moving through darkness.

Hayride tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. All maze tickets are $6. Combo tickets are $14 for adults, $9 for kids.

Meetings

The Moses Wood Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the CHAPS Museum at 301 S. Johnson Street. The speaker will be Wade Scruggs, whose topic will be grave registration.

All members are urged to attend and the public is invited.

Church news

Life Changers Church cordially invites the public to their annual prayer conference from Oct. 13-17.

Services begin at 7 p.m. nightly, with different anointed speakers each night. For more information, call 487-5164.

Eastside Baptist Church located at 1284 East Cherokee Street, Old Highway 29, in Blacksburg, will host its third Saturday Night singing on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.

Guests will be Soul Harvest, The Christianaires and The Hamptons.

The Limestone Missionary Baptist Church invites all in celebrating the church's 135th anniversary.

The 2-day celebration will begin on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. with the presentation of a play entitled "The Glory Train."

The cost is $5, with the anniversary program will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Guests will be the Rev. Bernard Morman, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Greenwood, S.C.

Macedonia Baptist Church is having a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m.

All proceeds will go toward helping families for Christmas. There will be a hot dog supper, bake sale, silent cake auction, country store, inflatables, rock wall, games, maze, hayride, entertainment and other activities.

The public is invited to attend.

Friendship Baptist Church in Spartanburg will hold its annual Women's Day worship service on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. with minister Linda Worthy, associate minister of St. Paul Baptist Church in Union as the guest speaker.

Antioch Baptist Church will host an installation service for Pastor M. Alice Littlejohn on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m.

The guest speaker for the service will be Restoration Church of Gaffney Pastor Joey Turner.
