Retired from General Motors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Charles E. ("Chuck") Poole of Lake St. Louis, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at the age of 79.

Born in Gaffney, S.C., he was the dearest son of the late Shuford Miles and Gertrude McCraw Poole; loving father of Robert L. (Kris) Poole and Debra Anne (David) Poole- Jensen; proud grandfather of Jason Miles (Kassy) Poole and Jessica Renee Poole; loving great-grandfather of Miles Joseph Poole; dear brother of John Truman (Rose) Poole, Jimmy (Janice) Poole, Delia White, Jacqueline (Joe) Herlong and Mary Ann (Gene) Clary; and loving uncle, greatuncle and friend.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Poole was preceded in death by Robert Poole, Edgar Poole and Hazel Goudelock.

Mr. Poole served in the U.S. Navy as a Quarter Master on the U.S.S. Toledo during the Korean War. He was employed as an automobile executive at

General Motors in

Van Nuys, Calif.

After retirement from General Motors, he became a successful realtor in Simi-Valley, Calif. He was an avid golfer and it became his passion, playing at least three times a week. He was "young at heart" and led a very active, independent life.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 20, at 5 p.m. at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center Chapel, 3950 W. Clay St., St. Charles, Mo. 63301.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
