Estelle Eaker

Retired from textile industry

SPARTANBURG - Estelle McKinney Eaker, 89, of White Oak Estates, formerly of Old Metal Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at White Oak Estates.

Born in Spartan- burg County, she was the widow of Samuel (S.B.) Eaker and daughter of the late Stan McKinney and Leona McKinney. She was retired from the textile industry and a lifetime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family, church family and her WMU group.

Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Mullinax and husband, Rev. Jack Mullinax, of Spartanburg, Elaine Fowler and husband, Johnny, of Chesnee and Joy Powell and husband, Curtis, of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren, Annette Price, Renee Crocker and husband, Rev. Tommy Crocker, Shawn Van Dyne and husband, Ray, Dawn Toedter and husband, Roger, Lisa Ellsworth and husband, Jerry, Dr. Brian Fowler and wife, Teresa, Stacy Byce and husband, Mike, and Scott Stapleton and wife, Allison; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Bobbie Ward and husband, Clyde, of Spartanburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Eaker was preceded in death by a grandson, Jack Bruce Mullinax; two sisters, Evelyn Bishop and Willie Cash; and two brothers, Stan McKinney Jr. and Mark McKinney.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the love, care and friendship provided by the staff and caregivers of White Oak Estates. Also, for the tender loving care and compassion from all of the staff and wonderful nurses of Hospice Care of South Carolina. We would especially like to thank Sherry and Cleetie for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Robert Kirby and the Rev. Jack Mullinax officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 250 Mt. Olive Road, Cowpens, S.C. 29330.

The family will be at the home of Jack and Brenda Mullinax, 137 Woodcreek Drive, Spartanburg.
