POLICE REPORT The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an Oct. 15 incident during which a worker at a West Floyd Baker Boulevard restaurant found a customer's lost purse but apparently decided to keep it. According to a police report, the purse owner, a 23-year-old Spartanburg woman, had been in the restaurant Oct. 15 for dinner and accidentally left her purse on the window sill near her table. She subsequently called the manager to see if anyone had turned it in and was told they had not. However, police said the manager later reviewed security camera footage and determined a Chesnee woman who worked for the restaurant did pick it up. No arrest was reported as of Friday. Nearly $1,000 in tools and lawn equipment were stolen from a Holly Ridge Road, Blacksburg property last week. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone went into an outbuilding in the 1000 block between noon Oct. 15 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16 and took an Echo weed trimmer, a Dewalt drill, a hand saw, about $200 in assorted hand tools, a Porta Cable reciprocating saw and a metal gas can that contained five gallons of fuel. An 81-year-old Good Samaritan apparently fell victim to a thief. According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, an unknown female, 30 to 35 years old with brown hair to her waist, knocked on the door of an 81-year-old Hardin Street man on Oct. 13 seeking help because she allegedly was being chased by someone. The Hardin Street man told police he let the woman inside and left the room for a few seconds. When he returned, he told police, the man said he determined the woman was intoxicated and asked her to leave. He later noticed his wallet was missing from his home. A license plate was reported stolen from an apartment complex on Bonner Lake Road. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina license plate RRH-1860 was taken from a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker belonging to a Shelby, N.C., man on Oct. 15 while it was parked in the 400 block at Ryan Park Apartments. A mo-ped was reported stolen from Crestmont Drive last week. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, a black and gray 2008 Jon Way mo-ped was taken from the 100 block between 11:30 p.m. Oct. 15 and 8:30 a.m. Oct. 16. The mo-ped was missing a mirror on the right side. It was valued at $900. The Gaffney Police Department served two arrest warrants on a 20-year-old city man Oct. 16 charging him with trespass after notice and breaking arrest. According to police, an officer spotted Travis Sentell Epps, of Victory Trail Road, at Granard Court Apartment on Sept. 29 and attempted to arrest him for trespassing after notice but Epps allegedly ran away, leading to the breaking arrest charge. A South Petty Street resident sustained about $100 in damages when a vandal targeted their DirecTV satellite cable. The Gaffney Police Department reported the cable for the satellite unit at the home in the 700 block was cut on Oct. 16 at about 9 p.m. A car sustained about $1,000 in vandalism damage Oct. 17 outside a Huntington Square apartment building. According to the Gaffney Police Department, a witness told police a woman was seen standing near the car, a Chrysler 300, between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. when the witness heard some noise coming from that direction. The car sustained scratches in several places and a dent on the driver's side fender. The owner of the car told police the witness description of the woman matched that of a former girlfriend. |
