The Rev. L.C. Roberts Sr., 65, of 269 Beltline Road, Apt. 3-D, passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at 9:10 a.m. at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Spartanburg.
Rev. Roberts was formerly married to Doris J. Roberts of Gaffney.
Son of the late Stark Roberts and the late Reola Howell Roberts, he was born June 9, 1943, in Cherokee County. He was a member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an associate minister. He was a graduate of Granard High School, where he was a football star, and Gardner-Webb Divinity School of Shelby. He was owner of L.C. Roberts Brick Mason, was a former member of Mountainview Lodge No. 301 of Blacksburg and retired after 15 years of service from Magnolia Manufacturing Company.
Surviving are his son, L. C. Roberts Jr. of Gaffney; two daughters, Tammy Roberts of Mableton, Ga., and Cashlia Roberts of Gaffney; six sisters, Opia Tate, Gladys Bonner, Betty Watkins, all of Gaffney, Margie Camp of High Point, N.C., Omma Mae Roberts of New Rochelle, N,Y., and Addell Feemster of Sharon; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law; four brothersin law; and a host of other relatives.
Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. L.T. Tate and the Revs. C A. Wallace, Ramon Gibbs, Willie Mayes, Joseph Parks, Dewey Whittenburg, Reginald Littlejohn and David Vernon officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be his nephews and friends, Kelly Manning, Brian Manning, John Smith, Tim Smith, Samuel Femester, Wallace Camp, Freddie Tate, Collie Femester, Bobby Jamison, Cossie Knuckles, Joseph Lindsey and Donnie Ray Littlejohn.
The family is at the home of Cashlia Roberts, 1396 Leadmine Road, Gaffney.
