Thomas helps Limestone to 10-3 mark

Junior Melissa Thomas just missed a double-double with 16 kills and nine digs to lead visiting Limestone College to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-20) Conference Carolinas victory over host St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Thursday evening in Harris Court.

The Lady Saints won their fourth straight match improving to 13-10 overall and 10-3 in the conference while the Lady Knights dropped their fourth consecutive contest falling to 7-15 overall and 4-7 in the league.

After four straight ties to start the match, Limestone surged ahead with an 8-1 run to take a 12-5 lead.

The Saints continued to pull away and a kill by junior Chelsea Anthony finished off the set giving the visitors their largest lead of 12 at 25- 13. Anthony tallied six digs and a team-high three aces during the match.

The Saints grabbed an early five point advantage in the third set but the Knights rallied and pulled to within one at 12-11.

However, Limestone scored the next five points and held on for a 25-20 win to compete the sweep. LC never trailed in the final two sets.
