Fall festivals
Calvary Baptist Church, 2929 Cherokee Ave., will have a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-8 p.m. A hot dog dinner will be served and there will be hay rides and lots of games and candy. Donations only. Tickets can be purchased for $1 for a raffle drawing and there will be a silent auction and costume contest for all ages. For more information, call 864-490- 6298.

Sunday, Oct 26, at 6 p.m., the Pine Ridge Boys will be at Pacolet Road Baptist Church for an evening of gospel singing. Everyone is invited to attend.
Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls, will have a singing Sunday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. featuring Two for One.
The Chancel Choir from Trinity United Methodist Church in Spartanburg will present a concert of spirituals on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at Grassy Pond Baptist Church. The choir's director is Justin Addington and the accompanist will be Pat Hurt. The public is invited to attend.
White Plains Baptist Church will have its 141st anniversary celebration Sunday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m. The Rev. Larry Black and New Salem Zion will be special guests. The Rev. James Patton Jr. is pastor.
Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, 502 Buck Shoals Road, will have Founder's Day and the beginning its fall revival on Sunday, Nov. 3. The services on Founder's Day will begin at 10 a.m. with Sunday School. Worship begins at 10:45 a.m. with the pastor, Rev. Mike Frazier, speaking. Following the worship service, dinner will be served in the fellowship building. Revival services will begin Sunday at 7 p.m. and continue through Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Rev. Bobby Earls will be the speaker.
White Plains Baptist Church Missionaries will have their annual prayer breakfast program Saturday, Nov. 1, at 9 a.m. Minister Teresa Black of New Salem Zion Baptist Church will be the special guest. The Rev. James Patton Jr., pastor, invites everyone to attend.
Limestone Missionary Baptist Church will mark its 135th anniversary with a twoday celebration. Saturday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m., a play, "The Glory Train," will be presented. Admission is $5. The anniversary program will be on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. Guests will be the Rev. Bernard Morman, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, Greenwood.
Allen Temple C.M.E. Church, 105 Peeler St., will have its annual Men's Day service Sunday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. Speaker will be the Rev. H.D. Tate, who will be accompanied by his congregation.

Halloween events
Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department will have a haunted house Oct. 24-26, Oct. 30-31 and Nov. 1 at 137 Blackwell Road in Blacksburg. Admission is $5. The fun begins at 7 p.m. For directions, call 864-839-4500.
The things of the night will gather at sundown at Bar H Arena in Boiling Springs, N.C., on Oct. 24-25 and Oct. 31. A maze will be available for those who want to test their skills finding their way through the darkness. Hayride tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. All maze tickets are $6. Special events
The Hejaz Shriners' fall ceremonial will be held in Gaffney this year. A ceremonial parade downtown is planned Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. The parade will proceed down Limestone Street from Railroad Avenue to Thomson Park. The month of October is National Pastor's Appreciation Month and the Cherokee County Branch NAACP and the Black Ministerial Alliance extend an invitation to local pastors to attend a fellowship breakfast Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. in the dining hall of Bethel Baptist Church. Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. will be the host pastor and keynote speaker will be Bernard Smith, NAACP voter registration chairperson. All pastors are invited to attend. The NAACP is the oldest civil rights organization in the nation. Jessie Mae Manning is the local president and the Rev. C.A. Wallace is president of the Cherokee County Black Ministerial Alliance.
The second annual Bryan House Holiday Market will be held Nov. 1-9 at 606 Main St. in Conway. Hours will be Monday through Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m.
Brookview HealthCare Center, 510 Thompson St., will have its second annual fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-7 p.m. Limestone College student volunteers will be helping out with games and a Kids' Craft Zone. There will be free games, tattoos, prizes and a giant slide. Cotton candy and popcorn will be sold for a reasonable price. Live music will be provided by Bernie and the Major 7s. Pizza, hot dog and hamburger plates will be sold for $3.50 each, beverage included. Pumpkin pie will be $1 a slice. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20, and will be available at the door. Meetings
Blacksburg VFW Post 4941 will meet Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Community Building in Blacksburg. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All post members are urged to attend.
