WHAT'S UP Halloween events Pirates of the Lost Emerald Farm Halloween Adventure will take place Oct. 23-26, Oct. 30-31 and Nov. 1 from dusk until ? at Lost Emerald Farm, located on I- 85 Frontage Road (Exit 87). Admission is $13 per person and children under 8 years old are $6. The cost includes a warm heated tent complete with games, movies and fun; a ride on the Emerald Queen ghost ship, a trip through the pirates' swamp maze, a maze of lost souls, a 3-D haunted house, and a special "surprise" never before seen in South Carolina. Partial proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation so that a child in the Upstate with a lifethreatening illness can have a wish come true. Young and old alike are invited to "Costumes at the College," a community celebration at the Cherokee County Campus of Spartanburg CommunityCollege, on Friday, Oct. 24, from 5-7 p.m. Children under 12 can come dressed in their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat in a safe environment while adults learn about programs and training available at the Cherokee County Campus. Refreshments will be served. Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department will have a haunted house Oct. 24-26, Oct. 30-31 and Nov. 1 at 137 Blackwell Road in Blacksburg. Admission is $5. Fall festivals Calvary Baptist Church, 2929 Cherokee Ave., will have a fall festival Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-8 p.m. A hot dog supper will be served and there will be hayrides and lots of games and candy. Donations only. Tickets can be purchased for $1 for a drawing and there will be a silent auction and costume contest for all ages. West End Baptist Church will have a fall festival Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 5-8:30 p.m. There will be a bouncy house, obstacle course and hayrides outdoors while a hot dog supper, fall photos and carnival games with candy and prizes will take place in the gym. There will also be face painting, crafts, balloons and cake sales along with lots of fun and fellowship. Corinth Baptist Church will hold a fall festival Friday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. There will be hotdogs, large inflatables, a cake walk and small games with prizes. Kids can trunk-or-treat. Church news Mikes Creek Baptist Church will sponsor "Takin' It To The Streets" Saturday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. at Azell Robbs Park. The Rev. and Mrs. Freddy Davidson will celebrate their second anniversary as Pastor and First Lady of Ebenezer Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct. 26. Rev. Darron Mills, associate minister of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Charlotte, will speak at 11:15 a.m. and dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Caryer Dennis Rector, pastor of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, will speak at 3:30 p.m. The YWAs of Bethel Baptist Church will sponsor a spa day Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the church annex.
