Former WCW and TNA wrestler Elix Skipper will be in action at the local Boys and Girls Club on Nov. 1. Former WCW and TNA wrestler Elix Skipper will be in action at the local Boys and Girls Club on Nov. 1. When the lights are brightest, professional wrestler Elix Skipper puts on his best show.

The former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling superstar has won several championships during his many years inside the ring. But the longtime grappler has not performed in front of a Cherokee County audience.

On Nov. 1, that will all change.

Skipper will headline a wrestling show next month to raise funds for the local Boys and Girls Club.

Wrestlers from the Lynx Wrestling Alliance will also take part in the event.

"We are trying to turn this into a monthly thing at the Boys and Girls Club," said Bobby Cosby of Lynx Wrestling Alliance. "We've seen a lot of response from the people of Gaffney. Hopefully things will continue to get better."

The wrestling alliance has held several shows at the Boys and Girls Club this year. In addition to what is going on inside the ring, those in attendance have the opportunity to buy toys, DVDs, clothing, autographs and other collectables.

But they also get the chance to be in the presence of greatness. Legends like Ricky Morton and Bobby Eaton have taken part in shows at the venue, something Cosby said visitors will see more often in the future.

"We have a number of names we want to bring in for future events," Cosby said. "But I can't tell or we might lose the opportunity."

Skipper's bout will be the main event, but a number of other bouts are also on the card.

Gaffney's own "Freight Train" gets his shot at the gold against the Thug, the Lynx' current World Heavyweight Champion. Also in action will be Scotty Black, Rocky Saiki, Steve Adams, Kidd Chaos and others.

While wrestling is what they do for a living, Lynx's Randy Ferguson said it's all about the kids.

"This is all about helping out the Boys and Girls Club," Ferguson said.

The local Boys and Girls Club serves approximately 250 children.

Doors for the show open at 7 p.m. with the first match beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children.
