Man arrested for purse snatching

The Gaffney Police Department served two arrest warrants against a West Robinson Street man accused of snatching two purses from two women inside a North Limestone Street restaurant.

According to a police report, a witness saw Charles L. Harris Jr., 34, sitting in a corner of Harold's Game Room at about 9:15 p.m. Oct. 18. When two females became distracted by a game, the witness told police Harris grabbed the women's purses and fled out the back door.

Two members of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office found Harris on Limestone Street and reportedly had to use both pepper spray and a stun gun to take him into custody. Police said they found a change purse and identification card belonging to one of the women when they searched Harris.
