City taxes due Nov. 1

In addition to finding that perfect Halloween costume, there's another thing to add to your to-do list this week - pay your city property taxes.

City property owners have until Nov. 1 to pay their property taxes. A 5 percent penalty will be added after Nov. 1.

That penalty increases to 10 percent on Dec. 1 and rises to 15 percent on Jan. 1.

Unpaid taxes are turned over to the delinquent tax collector on March 1, 2009

Earlier this month, the city mailed out 6,655 tax notices to owners of real and personal property. The notices are expected to generate as much as $3.4 million in revenue.
