Man gets 12 years on drug offense
A Monticello Street man was sentenced Monday in Cherokee County General Sessions Court to 12 years of imprisonment for a second offense of possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine.
Isley Wallace, 36, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine in connection with a Feb. 21, 2008, incident during which he allegedly tossed a bag outside the window of his vehicle while stopped by police on 8th Street.
Assistant Solicitor Michael Morin told Circuit Court Judge Paul Burch that police were able to recover the bag, which contained 3.46 grams of crack cocaine.
Charges of possession with intent to deliver crack within a 1/2 mile of a school or playground, as well as a 2007 charge, were dismissed in exchange for Wallace's plea to the charge that netted the 12-year sentence.
Judge Burch gave Wallace credit for 304 days of time served.
