Despite suffering a huge blow to their playoff hopes with Friday's disappointing loss to Landrum, the Wildcats still remain alive for a playoff spot in the Class A upperstate playoffs.

The Wildcats could claim the eighth seed with a victory Friday over Southside Christian and a win by Walhalla.

That may be enough to give the Wildcats a playoff spot under the points system.

"There is a slight possibility we could make the playoffs if a couple of things happen," Blacksburg coach Mickey Moss said. "That would give us another week to work with the kids."

But any hope to qualify for the playoffs would vanish with a loss to Southside Christian. And that means the Wildcats must play better than they did against Landrum.

"It was a very disappointing loss," Moss said. "We made far too many mistakes and we didn't tackle very well."

"We are still going through some growing pains and the players are adjusting to a new way of doing things. It's just going to take time," Moss added. "We are getting there and working just like any other week."
