Pete's owner unveils plans

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Staff Writer larry@gaffneyledger.com

A popular local restaurant is changing locations - but only temporarily.

Pete's of Gaffney will relocate to the former SnowTop building at 1558 N. Limestone St. near Upstate Carolina Medical Center during the construction of a new restaurant at its present Floyd Baker Boulevard site.

Pete's will close at its present location on Saturday, Nov. 1, and will open at the former SnowTop building in mid- November.

"We would like to thank the community for 25 years of support and we look forward to serving them for another 25 years," owner Dorothy Kalogirou said. "During construction we will temporarily be moving to the new location."

At its temporary location, the restaurant will offer dinein and pick-up services, Kalogirou said.

The new Pete's will become the centerpiece of a 6,600- square-foot Pete's Plaza, which will include space for two tenants.

The new Pete's will feature an expanded menu, including daily specials, fresh seafood and traditional Greek dinners, she said.

The new Pete's Plaza is expected to open some time in 2009.
