South Carolina House of Representatives District 29
Danny Stacy My name is Danny Stacy, and I am running for State Representative in District 29 that covers parts of Cherokee, Chester, and York Counties.
I have been a successful businessman in Gaffney for more than 35 years and am a family man with four children and 8 grandchildren. I know what it takes to succeed in business over the long haul and I have created jobs the hard way for three decades.
That really sums up why I am running for the State House to try to make our state government run more like a business and to protect families like yours and mine.
Any business that spent money like our state government has been doing for the past ten years would have gone out of business long ago, but Columbia politicians allowed spending to speed out of control during boom years. They spent hundreds of millions of dollars in revenues on wasteful projects and special interest giveaways instead of saving for a rainy day or investing in our state with tax cuts as they should have done.
This year, when times got tough, the same politicians who created our state¿s financial mess were forced to make drastic, across-theboard cuts to essential services. These same cuts would have been unnecessary if they had acted responsibly in the first place.
To make things worse, this legislature often spends the money anonymously without a recorded vote in the House or Senate. This allows special interest giveaways without any taxpayer accountability. I want to make sure that any vote that spends any taxpayer dollars is recorded. If tax money is being spent, taxpayers deserve to know how it is being spent, who decided to spend it, and how they voted.
This is why I am running with the support of so many organizations with business sense -- the Carolinas Association of General Contractors, the Club for Growth, NRA, Palmetto Family Council, and Governor Mark Sanford. I am grateful that these folks understand that I will stand up for taxpayers and small businesses and not for special interests and bloated government.
As a father and grandfather, I'm also running to protect our families.
We have a project in Cherokee County that simply must be stopped the proposed 1550 acre Waste Management landfill. This is not the kind of industry we need to grow our county. We are in a national recession partially brought on by falling home values. Why in the world would we do something to further damage those home values in our area? The landfill will bring few new jobs (if any at all), and we know it will harm property values and cost millions in new infrastructure from the damage thousands of trash trucks will do to our local roads and unknown damage to our environment. I hope you will join me in opposing this terrible special interest project.
To sum up my case:
I AM RUNNING TO SAY 'NO' TO THE SPECIAL INTERESTS AND 'YES' TO A CAP ON STATE SPENDING.
I AM RUNNING TO SAY 'NO' TO THE WASTEFUL PROJECTS AND 'YES' TO CUTTING TAXES.
I AM RUNNING TO SAY 'NO' TO BLOATED STATE GOVERNMENT AND 'YES' TO POLICIES THAT WILL HELP US CREATE PRIVATE SECTOR JOBS TO GET US OUT OF THIS RECESSION.
I AM RUNNING TO SAY 'NO' TO THE DUMP AND 'YES' TO HIGHER PROPERTY VALUES, A CLEANER LOCAL ENVIRONMENT, AND GOOD ROADS.
On Tuesday, I hope that I will have your support. I ask you to vote for me, Danny Stacy, for State Representative in District 29. Thank you.
