Sandra Middlebrooks

Sandra Young Middlebrooks, 58 of 512 1/2 Kelly St., widow of Thomas Middlebrooks, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at 2:08 a.m. at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Daughter of Grace Henderson Young of Blacksburg and the late Ralph Alexander Young, she was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church in Blacksburg and a 1968 graduate of Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn. She was formerly employed by Gaffney Children's Clinic.

In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Valeria Middlebrooks.

Surviving in addition to her mother are a sister, Doris Bonds of Fort Mill; three brothers, Leonard Young of Blacksburg, Reggie Young (Lourles) of Riverdale, Calif., and David Salaam of Charlotte, N.C.; an uncle, the Rev. Timothy McCluney of Blacksburg; a special companion, Willie Logan of the home; five nieces; six nephews; and a host of other relatives.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Brooks officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

The family is at the home of Grace Young, 172 Moda Road, Blacksburg.
