Three Indians selected to prestigious all-star games

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

Denzell Good Denzell Good Denzell Good's dominating play this season has earned him a coveted selection to the Shrine Bowl.

Good , at 6-4, 321 lbs., has anchored the Indians' young but improving offensive line. He has 29 pancake blocks and more than 40 knockdown blocks this season.

"He was one of the kids who went to the Shrine Bowl combine and really impressed," Gaffney coach Phil Strickland said. "He has good feet and pass blocks very well."

Strickland said Good has blossomed this season.

"He has come out of his shell and turned it up a notch."

Linebacker John Michaels and wideout Emison Hughes were named to the North- South All-Star football game.

Michaels has 54 tackles, three tackles for losses, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

Strickland said the North- South coaches liked Michaels' versatility as a run stopper and a pass defender.

Michaels is also the team's long snapper.

Hughes has 23 catches for 424 yards and four touchdowns.

"All three are well deserving," Strickland said.
