Miss Hulsey, Mr. Keener wed Sept. 13
      Carol Anne Hulsey and Brent Allen Keener, both of Gaffney, exchanged marriage vows on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Second Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg. The Rev. Steve Rhodes conducted the 5 p.m. double ring ceremony. Pat Hurt, grandmother of the bride, played the piano and Justin Addington of Spartanburg was the organist.

6-year-old has become a mama's boy
      Dear Annie: Due to financial setbacks, my sister and her two children have been living with my husband and me for over a year. The problem is that her 6-year-old son is a mama's boy. "Alan" refuses to listen to anyone. He throws tantrums when his mother is not around and even kicks his sister and tells his cousin he hates her.

'Finding Voice' writer will speak at November AAUW meeting
      Dr. Elizabeth York, chairman of the Music Education and Music Therapy departments at Converse College, will be guest speaker at the Monday, Nov. 10, meeting of the Gaffney Branch of the American Association of University Women. Open to the public, the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 308 College Drive.

     HONORED AT CHEROKEE AVENUE - Perfect attendance pins for Sunday School were presented Sunday, Oct. 19, to two members of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Lynch Yelton received a pin for 55 years of perfect attendance while Frances Higgins received a pin for 52 years of perfect attendance. The pins were presented by Dr. Clyde Thomas, pastor, and Charles Banks, Sunday School director.
