Special events

The public is invited to a South Carolina Heart Gallery exhibit at Macedonia Baptist Church, 216 Macedonia Road, Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The Heart Gallery is a national project that uses the power of photography to find adoptive homes for children lingering in foster care. Participating partners include the Cherokee County DSS, Specialized Foster Home Services, Region 1 Adoption, Guardian Ad Litem, Foster Care Review Board, Wendy's Wonderful Kids and Open Arms Foster Parents Association.

The Spartanburg Christian Women's Club will have its November prayer connectin Nov. 5 at Papa's Breakfast Nook, 191 E. St. John St., Spartanburg, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Call Tootie, 864-486-9055, for more information.

Church news

Women are invited to join together in prayer for the nation and world on Baptist Women's Day of Prayer today at 6:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 822 Providence Road. A soup supper will be served.

The Senior Missionaries and YWAs of Thickety Mountain Baptist Association will have their annual World Day of Prayer program today at 6:30 p.m. at the Associational Building, 1505 Old Post Road. Speaker will be the Rev. Mary Jefferies, pastor of Indian Hill Baptist Church.

Meetings

Democratic Women will meet today from 6-8 p.m. at Thomson Park for its traditional John Spratt hot dog supper. The event is open to the public.
