Indians likely to hit road for playoffs
Indians need help to capture region or begin playoffs at home

      Gaffney coach Phil Strickland has one word to describe his team's chances of capturing the region title or hosting a first-round playoff game -- slim. To capture their first Region III title, the 6-4 Indians must beat region-leading Northwestern (9-1, 4-0) and York (4-6, 2-2) must defeat Clover (7-3, 3-1).

      If you're looking for a suprise team to go far in the playoffs, try the Gaffney Indians. Don't let last season's 6-6 region record fool you. Gaffney returns four starters and Gaffney boys basketball coach Mark Huff said he had the highest number of players in several years participate in the first day of tryouts on Monday.

Former Gaffney High products lead teams to win
STAFF REPORTS
      S.C. State 23, Deleware State 17 Former Gaffney High product Malcolm Long completed 18 of 30 passes for 246 yards in the win. The Bulldogs got a late last-minute stand from its defense to overcome two secondhalf turnovers and an overall lackluster performance to remain perfect in the Mid-Eastern conference.

      Field hockey coming to Limestone Limestone College Director of Athletics Mike Cerino announced Monday that women's field hockey will be added to the Saints sport lineup in the fall of 2009. The Lady Saints team will be the southernmost NCAA field hockey team in the United States.
