Women's organization to honor vets with flag-folding ceremony

Program will be Nov. 11 at Magnolias of Gaffney

Captain Moses Wood Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will present a traditional flag-folding program to honor veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Magnolias of Gaffney, located at Tiffany Park off Ellis Ferry Road.

James Cash and two veterans of the Afghanistan War will present the program and explain what each of the folds of the flag represents. For those who have never seen this demonstration, it is a very reverent and touching tribute to honor our veterans. Chapter members invite the public to attend the program.

"We would like for each veteran attending to wear his/her military hat so guests will recognize their branch," said Beth Swanger, historical program chairperson. "Freedom is not free; these are the ones who have gone before and are still serving today to provide each of us the security and freedom we are enjoying daily. We hope you will join us for the ceremony and let our veterans know we remember their contribution to our country."
