      The Gaffney Police Department reported the theft of a speaker box from the porch of an East Montgomery Street home. The box with 12-inch subwoofer speakers was taken from a porch in the 400 block between 8 p.m. Oct. 28 and 3 p.m. Oct. 29. The box was valued at $150.

Three people arrested as authorities pursue stolen vehicles case

      The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office impound yard was jam-packed with used cars Friday as a result of an ongoing investigation into an alleged Blacksburg chop shop. Altogether, Sheriff Bill Blanton said investigators had seized 11 vehicles overall which were either stolen or had altered vehicle identification numbers.

City won't 'leaf' you hanging

Boy Scouts have begun food drive
      Local Boy Scout troops in Cherokee County will begin their annual "Scouting for Food" drive this weekend. Scouts put door hangers and bags out in neighborhoods on Nov. 8. They will return on Nov. 15 to bring the bags of food to the collection site at the Meals on Wheels.
