City won't 'leaf' you hanging

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Staff Writer larry@gaffneyledger.com

City public works crews have begun their leaf collection efforts.

Gaffney Administrator James Taylor told Gaffney City Council that two leaf-vac trucks are presently in service. A third brush truck will be fitted with a leaf vacuum Monday, he said.

"The leaves are starting to fall and I know you will be getting phone calls from your constituents," Taylor told council members.

Taylor said trucks will follow predetermined routes and the crews won't deviate from their assigned streets for a special collection.

"This time of year with the volume of leaves it just makes more sense to go street by street," he said.

It typically will take a truck a week to complete its route, according to Taylor.

"Once a week, the trucks should be back in each neighborhood," he said.
