BLACKSBURG - Ruby Isler Queen, 86, of 118 Tribal Road, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at her home. A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Daisy Alice Pruitt Isler and widow of Charles Leonard Queen. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grover and was active in the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She worked for many years at Community Cash Grocery Store. Surviving are two daughters, Patsy Queen Hambright and husband, Andy, of Blacksburg; Charlene Queen of the home; two grandchildren, Patricia Moore Willis and husband, Lee, of Grover and Christopher Moore and wife, Courtney, of Six Mile; two great-grandchildren, Jerrod Willis and Jacob Willis of Grover; and two sisters, Thelma Jay Roark of Grover, N.C., and Wilma ("Bill") Putnam of Kings Mountain, N.C. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Mrs. Queen was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Wilson and Corrine Cook. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Grover with the Revs. John Barnhardt and David Saldo officiating. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Andy Hambright, Christopher Moore, Lee Willis, Grady Childers, Jerry McDaniel and Bill Kirby. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry McDaniel and Ted Dover. Visitation was held Sunday Nov. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at White Columns Funeral Service.
