Limestone students, local veteran actors light up stage in 'Beauty and the Beast'
Musical set for nine performances in Fullerton Auditorium
      Disney's Beauty and the Beast will begin a twoweekend run Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium. Presented by Limestone college in association with the Cherokee County Arts council and the Gaffney little Theatre, other evening performances are set for Nov. 14-15 and Nov. 20-22. There will be three matinee performances at 3 p.m. on Nov. 15, 16 and 22.

      Prison time won't provide therapy that nephew needs Dear Annie: My 34-year-old nephew brought his computer to a shop to be fixed. On the hard drive, the repairman found three videos and 15 pictures of child pornography. My nephew was arrested and is facing jail time. He has asked numerous people to send letters to the judge attesting to his good character.

Let the library show you how to use a computer, surf the Web
      The Cherokee County Public Library is accepting registrations for its November/ December public computer classes. The one-session classes will be at the main library, 300 Rutledge Ave., from 10 a.m. until noon. The free classes are designed for adults 18 and up.

Boggs' historic home will be open for holiday tours
      Members of the Gaffney Garden Club met recently at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Steven Boggs to finalize plans for the club's 2008 Holiday Home Tour. The home and garden of Dr. and Mrs. Boggs, located at 504 S. Johnson St. in the Historic Residential District of Gaffney, will be open for tours on Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14.

Sorority makes plans for November projects
      Xi Alpha Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. at the home of Hazel Abernathy with Shirley Addis as co-hostess. Patty Greene, president, called the meeting and Addis led the opening ritual. Ruth Ann Ohlsen gave the roll call and 12 members were present. Minutes from October's meeting were read and approved.

      Alana Loiuse Willingham and Bryan Alan West, both of Jonesville, were united in marriage on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Silverstreet Lutheran Church in Silverstreet, S.C. The 6 p.m. candlelight ceremony was performed by the Rev. Steven D. Jackson.

      George and Barbara McDowell Blackmon of Fort Mill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 16, 2008. Mr. and Mrs. Blackmon were married in 1958 at Green Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C. Mrs. Blackmon is a native of Gaffney and Mr. Blackmon is native of Charlotte.
