Limestone students, local veteran actors light up stage in 'Beauty and the Beast'
Musical set for nine performances in Fullerton Auditorium
Disney's Beauty and the Beast will begin a twoweekend run Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium. Presented by Limestone college in association with the Cherokee County Arts council and the Gaffney little Theatre, other evening performances are set for Nov. 14-15 and Nov. 20-22. There will be three matinee performances at 3 p.m. on Nov. 15, 16 and 22. Many of the principal roles have been doublecast, shared by members of the theatre community and Limestone students. The heroine Belle will be played by Meg Foster, a regular on the community theatre stage in Gaffney and Spartanburg. She will share the role with Limestone junior Holly M. Weiss of Gaffney. Dr. Tim Baxter-Ferguson, who also directs the production, will reprise his role of the Beast. Daniel Sean Smith, a sophomore from Cowpens, will also play the leading role in half the performances. Limestone graduate Justin Addington will again light up the stage as Lumiere, as will Limestone and Gaffney Little Theatre veteran Donnie Patterson. The role of Gaston will be shared by Limestone students Matthew Ferguson, a sophomore, and senior Tim Leftwich. Cogsworth will be played by sophomore James Gray and Lori Lee, a veteran of the Spartanburg Little Theatre, will play Mrs. Potts. Limestone sophomore Evan Goetz will play sidekick Lefou, junior John Henderson will play Maurice, and local child actors Taylor Deaton and Sean Presley will play Chip. Limestone seniors Katie King and Sara Ferguson return to their roles as Babette and Madame de la Grand Bouche, respectively. Spartanburg's Brad Peterson and freshman Lee Cutchin share the role of Monsieur D'Arque. Disney's Beauty and the Beast is directed by Dr. Baxter-Ferguson with musical direction provided by Dr. David Thompson, Professor of Music at Limestone. General admission tickets are $10, students and seniors are $7, and young children (6 and under) and Limestone College students, faculty and staff are free.
