POLICE REPORT
Two storage units at a West Floyd Baker Boulevard selfstorage business were broken into recently.
Some time between Oct. 30 and Oct. 31, someone broke into a unit leased by a Bratton Drive resident and took three television sets, a blue Lazy Boy, a curio clock with shelves, and destroyed a wooden book case. Theft losses are estimated at $6,000.
Between Sept. 1 and Nov. 3, another unit at the same facility was broken into and an antique Bally slot machine was reported stolen. The slot machine was silver and black and was a 25-cent denomination. The machine is valued at $4,000. The person who leases the storage unit told police he'd have to inventory the locker to see if anything else was missing.
More than $2,700 in electronics and other items were reported stolen following the burglary of a West Buford Street home.
According to Gaffney Police, someone entered the home in the 600 block between 8:30 p.m. Nov. 3 and 3:10 a.m. Nov. 4 and took a Mitsubishi flat screen television, a Dell computer, an Xbox 360 video game system and four games and about $45 in change.
Police reported the burglary of a Bolin Road home in Blacksburg.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced open a rear door to the home in the 100 block between 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 3. Among the items stolen were a 55- inch Vizio plasma television and a Sony surround sound system. Theft losses are estimated at $3,600.
A South Charleston Street home in Blacksburg also was the target of a burglar, according to a police report.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported that someone broke the glass out of a door to gain entry to a home in the 1000 block between 12:45 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. on Nov. 3. A Sony Bravio television was reported missing from the home. Theft losses are estimated at $2,000.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Gaffney Police Department are each investigating home invasions that occurred between Nov. 3 and Nov. 4.
A 72-year-old 1st Avenue man reportedly was beaten inside his home during the Nov. 3 incident, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
Unknown robbers entered the home in the 700 block between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. while the victim was in bed. Police said the robbers took $400 from the victim after striking him several times on his arms and body.
According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, the second of the incidents occurred at about 9:50 a.m. Nov. 4 when an unknown black male wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans climbed through the back window of a 1st Street home holding a stick in one hand and a hammer in the other while demanding money.
No injuries were reported during the second incident.
A South Granard Street convenience store was the target of a smash-and-grab early Nov. 6.
Some time between 4:45 a.m. and 5:17 a.m., someone smashed the front door at Corner Stop #3 to gain entry. The burglar(s) broke an alarm keypad at the store and cut phone lines. Police said it appeared the burglar(s) stole a change box, eight cartons of Newport cigarettes, a case of beer and three beer bottles. Theft and damage losses are estimated at $1,370.
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that was reported near Limestone Courts on Nov. 4.
According to a police report, a 48-year-old North Limestone Street man was approached by an unknown man wearing a camouflage coat and grey baggy pants, who pointed a dark-colored pistol at him. The incident happened between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., police said. The victim was robbed of $15.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of a 21-year-old Spartanburg man who allegedly try to flee from a Nov. 5 traffic stop.
According to a police report, an officer attempted to stop DeMarcus Terrell Moore but Moore fled from the scene near Old Racetrack Road and was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
Moore was booked on charges of failure to stop for a blue light, driving under suspension and simple possession of marijuana, according to police and Cherokee County Detention Center records.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the recovery of two stolen vehicles Nov. 4 and Nov. 5.
According to a police report, an officer found a 2003 Ford F350 truck about 200 feet off Moss Trail in Blacksburg at about 5:20 p.m. The vehicle had no license plate and the ignition was punched out. Police said the vehicle had minor damage from hitting a tree. It subsequently was determined the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Charlotte, N.C.
On Nov. 5, police responded to a vehicle fire near Carolyn Drive and Bonner Lake Road where a blue Ford Crown Victoria had been intentionally set on fire. Police said they were able to confirm the burned vehicle had been reported stolen out of Spartanburg County.
More than $35,000 in theft and damage losses were reported following the recently discovered burglary of a vacant Hampshire Drive business.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced open a basement door to the commercial building in the 300 block and stripped the building of sprinkler heads, copper and a switch gear box. The building is owned by a man from Englewood, N.J.
The Gaffney Police Department is on the lookout for two men who robbed a Windslow Avenue convenience store Nov. 6.
According to police, two black males wearing ski masks entered the Kangaroo at 862 Windslow Ave. at about 10:10 p.m. One of the robbers pointed a silver handgun at a clerk and demanded money. After being given about $108 in cash, police said, the robber then demanded the clerk hand over Newport cigarettes.
The clerk told police the second robber in the store did not appear to be armed and he continually told the first robber to "Come on, let's go."
The first robber stood about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighed about 165 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing.
The second robber was wearing dark clothing with a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Police said the robbery was videotaped by the store's security cameras.
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating a strongarm robbery that occurred inside an Ellis Ferry Avenue home late Nov. 6.
According to police, a 47- year-old resident of the 100 block was sitting in his home after 11 p.m. when two unknown men walked in an unlocked door, mistook him for another person and assaulted him by kicking him in the ribs. The victim told police the robbers stole $65 from him and ransacked the home before leaving.
Police said they could find no bruises on the victim and the home did not appear to be ransacked.
