POLICE REPORT
An AK-47 assault rifle was among the items missing from a Bear Creek Road home in Blacksburg following a recent burglary.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's office, someone entered the home in the 500 block between Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 and took the rifle, a safe and two gold rings. The value of the items is estimated at $1,400.
A handgun was reported stolen from a Cooper Street residence, according to the Gaffney Police Department.
The gun owner told police his 9 mm Taurus handgun was taken from his bedroom sometime between Nov. 7 and Nov. 8. The theft occurred inside a home in the 100 block. Police said the gun is valued at more than $400.
A handgun was stolen from a car parked in a West Rutledge Avenue parking lot Nov. 7.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone broke a window on a vehicle parked in a lot in the 500 block and stole a .40 caliber Glock Model 27 handgun from the dashboard. The gun is valued at $550. The window damage is estimated at $100.
Someone broke into an apartment in the 500 block of West Rutledge Street on Nov. 8.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone forced open a window screen and entered the apartment between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The resident told police nothing appeared to be missing or disturbed inside the home.
The Gaffney Police Department reported the arrest of a 30-year-old Winchester Drive man on Nov. 8 for possession of marijuana and an unlawful weapon.
According to a police report, an officer approached a vehicle on 3rd Street near Providence Road and noticed an odor of marijuana.
Eddie Charles Proctor Jr., who was sitting behind the wheel, allegedly told the officers no one was smoking marijuana and then reached into his pocket and attempted to conceal a small bag.
Police said they grabbed Proctor's arms as he was reaching into his back pocket and placed him in handcuffs. Police said they subsequently found a handgun in Proctor's back pocket and recovered two glassine bags, one containing suspected marijuana and the other containing six pills.
A Chevrolet truck was reported stolen from White's Road recently.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone took a blue 1965 Chevrolet stop side C-144 truck valued at $3,500 from a property in the 100 block between Sept. 17 and Nov. 9.
About $900 in vandalism damage was reported on North Gate Road on Nov. 9.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone damaged the paint on a 1999 Ford Explorer and a 2000 Buick parked in the 400 block.
The Gaffney Police Department recently received a report that a vehicle had been damaged by gunfire in the 600 block of Willow Street.
Police said someone fired a gunshot that struck the back hatch of a 2005 Suzuki. The bullet, which damaged an interior panel in the car, was recovered as evidence. A witness was able to tell the car owner the shot had been fired by someone in a green SUV.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the theft of a lawn mower from Goucher School Road.
The green-colored Yardman self-propelled lawn mower was taken from a property in the 1000 block between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 8. The mower is valued at $198.
Almost $4,000 in lawn equipment and other items were reported stolen from an outbuilding on a Quarter Round Road property following a burglary.
Someone forced entry to the outbuilding in the 1300 block between 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9 and 1 p.m. Nov. 10, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The thief or thieves took a riding lawn mower, a push mower, a weed trimmer, two mini-bikes, a tool set and a window air conditioning unit.
Thieves targeted electrical wiring harnesses on trailers parked outside a Sarratt Creek Road business, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
Sometime between Oct. 3 and Nov. 7, police said someone cut the wiring harnesses on several trailers parked outside Suminoe Textiles of America. The wiring harnesses are valued at $5,000.
A West Cherokee Street man was arrested Nov. 8 after he allegedly was caught by an undercover officer in possession of about 11 pounds of suspected marijuana.
According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, an officer was conducting an undercover operation on Rockhouse Road in Blacksburg on Nov. 8 when police claim John Robert Mosley, 40, of West Cherokee Street, had in his possession approximately 11 pounds of a green plant material believed to be marijuana. Police said Mosley was placed under arrest and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center. He was not in the county jail Tuesday, when the arrest report was released.
A home on El Bethel Road was stripped of copper and electrical equipment during a recent burglary, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
Someone entered the home in the 900 block between Oct. 1 and Nov. 2 by breaking the glass out of a door. Once inside, police said the burglar( s) took all of the electrical plugs and switches, a ceiling fan, circuit breakers and stripped a heat pump. All of the stereo equipment from a car parked outside the home also was taken. Police said the burglar(s) also took a DirecTV satellite dish. Theft and damage losses exceed $1,200.
