Jimmy Lanier

Retired from Johns Manville

Jimmy Lee Lanier, 67, of 250 Hampshire Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at his home.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the husband of Evelyn Parris Lanier and son of the late June Lanier and Coleen Wilson Lanier. He was retired from Johns Manville and was a member of Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jimmy Dywayne Lanier and wife, Kim, of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Jimmy Shane Lanier and Kayla Marie Lanier; a brother, Ronnie Lanier of Gaffney; and two sisters, Sandy Johnson and Shirley Fitzgerald, both of Gaffney.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lanier was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Lanier, Terry Lanier and Paul Lanier.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Care of South Carolina.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

Services will be held Friday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Terrell Dillingham, the Rev. Tim Wilkie and Mr. Eddie Dean Allison officiating. Interment will be in Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home.
