Annual Men's Day services will be held Sunday, Nov. 16, during the 9:30 a.m. worship service at Island Creek Baptist Church, 2112 Battleground Road, Cowpens. Men will be in charge of all activities and music will be provided by the All Male Chorus. The message will be given by Pastor Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. The services will end with the crowning of "Man of the Year 2008." Vying for the title are Jerome Littlejohn and Clarence Brackett.
Beverly Goudelock will preach her initial sermon Sunday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. at New Trinity Christian Fellowship Ministries, 711 Cherokee Ave.
The Shady Grove Gospel Choir will celebrate its anniversary Sunday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. Featured on the program will be the Southland Troubadours, the Gospel Tones and the Joy Lights of Gaffney.
Antioch Baptist Church, 300 Serene Drive, Gaffney, will have a three-night service Nov. 18-20 at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bishop Kelvin Jones, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, St. Kitts, West Indies.
Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will have a 131st church anniversary celebration Sunday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Curtis Hill, pastor of New Holly Light Baptist Church, Pendleton.
White Plains Baptist Church, 168 Tindall Mill Road, will have its annual trustee program Sunday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. The Rev. Freddy Davidson and Ebenezer Baptist Church will be the special guests. The Rev. James Patton Jr. is pastor.
Shady Grove Baptist Church Teaching Ministry will have a "Sunday School Attendance Blast" and Youth Day on Sunday, Nov. 16, beginning at 9:45 a.m. The goal is to have 125 students in Sunday School. There will be refreshments and prizes awarded for the student inviting the most friends and the class with the highest number of students. During the 11 a.m. worship, the Young Adult Sunday School Class will be in charge of the pulpit service. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Alan Ferguson, associate minister of Harrison Grove Baptist Church, Roebuck and a noted playwright.

Fund raisers
Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church in Blacksburg is selling tickets for a chicken/fish fry to raise money for a Montana mission trip. Plates are $8 and consist of a choice of chicken tenders, flounder fillet or a combination of both, plus fries, hush puppies, slaw and sauces (tarter and barbecue). The event will be Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4-7 p.m. Dine in the church's fellowship hall or get it to go. Tickets must be purchased in advance; to order a ticket, contact Ellen Owen, 864- 839-5047. Grahams Fish Camp of Gastonia, N.C., is the caterer.
Corinth Elementary School will have its third annual March of Dimes yard sale on Saturday, Nov. 15, rain or shine, from 6-11 a.m. All proceeds will benefit Corinth Elementary's March of Dimes Drive. The school will continue to take donations for the sale until Friday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m.
A huge sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, at Oakdale Baptist Church, 231 Oakdale Road, Cowpens, from 8 a.m. until noon. Blacksburg Church of God, 607 W. Cherokee St., will have a pinto bean supper Saturday, Nov. 15, from 5-7 p.m. Eat-in or takeout. The menu includes pintos, cornbread, potato salad, greens, macaroni and cheese, tea, fatback and dessert. Plates are $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 an under.

The Gaffney Business and Professional Women's Club will meet Monday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at House of Pizza.
