Rose Hill Park hosts 'Candlelight on the Plantation'

UNION - Rose Hill Plantation State Historic Site will host its annual "Candlelight on the Plantation," Nov. 21-22 at 6 p.m.

The program showcases the Rose Hill mansion as it has rarely been seen before. Visitors will be treated to an evening of live history and refreshments. For only the second time in the 48-year history of Rose Hill as a state park, the mansion will be open for visitors in the evening.

There will be living historians giving guided tours of the mansion by candlelight.Visitors will be able to enjoy living historians demonstrating period dances, music, entertainment and the social life at a plantation house as it might have been in 1860. Refreshments made with recipes of the period will be served by 19th century kitchen help.

Cost is $10 per person. Call the park office to pre-register no later than Nov. 18. Space is limited to 45 visitors each evening. To register, call 864.-427-5966.
