SHELBY - W.T. Edward Petty, 69, of 111 Ridgewood St., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in Wendover Hospice.

Widower of Margaret Pearson Petty, he was born in Cleveland County, N.C., a son of the late Edgar and Lois Oglesby Petty. He was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Laramie Petty and Demetrius McCluney, both of Shelby, Jeffrey Hicks (Jo) of Greenville and the Rev. Phillip Corry (Twanna) of Atlanta, Ga.; seven daughters, Marilyn Petty, Charlene Petty, Wynima Cannon, Sheila Leak (Michael), all of Shelby, Thaylia Phillips, Kimberly Pitts (Bernard) and Tina Rodgers all of Gaffney; a sister, Laura Vaughn of Roosevelt, N.Y.; brothers, Jamie Petty (Carolyn) and L.B. Petty (Debbie) of Shelby, N.C.; and several grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. at Suck Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Macomson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
