Limestone men's swim team surprises Gardner-Webb to improve to 3-1

The Limestone men's swim team earned first place in its first five events and went on to win nine out of 11 events to defeat Gardner- Webb Friday night.

With the win, the Saints improve to 3-1 heading into the Davidson Invitational. Gardner-Webb suffered its first loss of the season, dropping to 3-1 overall.

The Saints led off with a first place time (1:34.62) in the 200 Medley Relay, with the team of Linvern Lim, Chad McKenzie, Matt Parsonage and Craig Jordens.

Zeljko Karaman recorded a first place time (10:08.97) in the 1,000 Freestyle, paced closely by the Bulldogs Adam Suggs (10:12.91) and Derek Gore (10:16.66).

In the 50 Freestyle, Limestone's Goran Majlat earned first (21.57), narrowly defeating Anders Melin (21.61). The two would trade places in the 100 Freestyle, with Melin placing first (47.18) and Majlat coming in second (48.06).

Gilles Gutnecht posted a first place time (4:46.66) in the 500 Freestyle.

Limestone will return to the water Friday for the Davidson College Invitational. The meet will begin at 6 p.m.
