Church news

Kings Creek Church of God is having revival services through Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. Speakers are Dr. Frank Abram and Dr. Barbara Abram. This messianic Jew has messages of faith and end-time prophecy and is considered one of the best prophecy teachers in America. There will also be special singing.

Antioch Baptist Church, 300 Serene Drive, Gaffney, will have a three-night service Nov. 18-20 at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bishop Kelvin Jones, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, St. Kitts, West Indies.

Bible conference

Biblefest '08, sponsored by First Foundations Inc., will be held Nov. 21-22 at North Greenville University. The theme is "The Bible: Faith's First Foundation," and keynote speaker will be Dr. Don Wilson, pastor of Spartanburg First Baptist Church. Seminar leaders will be Dr. Don Mathis, Dr. Walter Johnson, Dr. Ronald Marks, Dr. Gene Gurganus, Dr. James Deuink, Kelechi Benet and Sen. David Thomas. Music will be provided by Joyful Sound and Steve Kaminski. Two meals are included with full registration. Reservations are required; call 864-834- 2300.

Gospel concerts

Joyful Sound, North Greenville University's Baptist Student Union Ensemble, will present special music at Central Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m.

In His Glory and Ivan Parker will present a gospel concert on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at RS Central Auditorium in Rutherfordton, N.C. Advance tickets are $10 and admission at the door is $12. Blood drive

Hospice Care of South Carolina will sponsor a blood drive on Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at its office at 1612 N. Limestone St. just below the hospital. To reserve a specific time, contact Hospice Care of South Carolina, 864-487- 3166. Reservation requests may also be mailed to amandak@hospicecare.net. Walk-ins will also welcome the day of the drive.

Fund raisers

Blacksburg Auxiliary Auxiliary 4941 will have a yard sale Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Post located on Brugg Street. The sale will be from 7 a.m. until noon. Proceeds will go to the Cherokee Children's Home.

Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church in Blacksburg is selling tickets for a chicken/ fish fry to raise money for a Montana mission trip. Plates are $8 and consist of a choice of chicken tenders, flounder fillet or a combination of both, plus fries, hush puppies, slaw and sauces (tarter and barbecue). The event will be Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4-7p.m. Dine in the church's fellowship hall or get it to go. Tickets must be purchased in advance; to order a ticket, contact Ellen Owen, 864-839-5047. Grahams Fish Camp of Gastonia, N.C., is catering the fundraiser.

Brookview Healthcare Center is selling a cookbook of its residents' and staff's favorite recipes, "From Our Family to Yours." The cookbook has over 350 recipes and is $10, with all profits going toward supporting special events at the facility. Senior Center news

A painting class will be held at the Gaffney Senior Center on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. until. The artist is Brian Benson and the cost is $25. If you or someone you know is interested in learning to pain, call Joan Hall, 489-3868, to register and get a supply list.

Meetings

The Cherokee County Public Library board of directors will meet Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m.

The Gaffney Business and Professional Women's Club will meet today at 6:30 p.m. at the House of Pizza. Debra Kesler, Ruth Queen and Alison Masters will discuss "How Women Can Start New Businesses."

Blacksburg Ladies Auxiliary 4941 will meet Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Community Building in Blacksburg.

Holiday hours

The Cherokee County History and Arts Museum announces its holiday schedule. The museum will be open by appointment only Nov. 26-29 and Dec. 24-27. The museum will be closed closed Dec. 31 and Jan.1.
