Gaffney potter featured at Tryon Pottery Show and Sale

TRYON, N.C. - The cabin at Harmon Field will again be the site for the annual Pottery Show and Sale on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ann Gleason has sponsored this event each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving for the past 12 years. She has collaborated with different potters and artists over the years, but she and Cynthia Link have worked together on the sale for four years. This year they will again be showing together at the cabin.

Gleason, a Tryon potter, recently showed her work at the Hand N Hand Gallery in Flat Rock, N.C. A member of the Highland Craft Guild, she sells work at the Folk Art Center and the Moses Cone Center. Every October she participates in the Highland Craft Guild Show in Asheville. She is currently teaching ceramics at Greenville Technical College on the Greer campus and will be teaching a workshop at the Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg. In January, she teaches a month-long intensive workshop for Wofford College.

Link, a potter from Gaffney, recently showed her work at the Red Glover Gallery in Landrum, the Chapman Cultural Center and the Upstarts Artspace in Tryon. She is a retired art teacher.

The Pottery Show and Sale has both functional and sculptured pottery at affordable prices. Gleason always has her well-known and loved birds and chickens and Link will have all kinds of cats. Baked goods and apple cider will be served.
