Gaffney Rotary Club welcomes Dr. Waugh

Dr. Richard Waugh (left) is greeted by Gaffney Rotary Club President Phil Orr. Dr. Richard Waugh (left) is greeted by Gaffney Rotary Club President Phil Orr. The Gaffney Rotary Club held its regular Tuesday meeting Nov. 11 in Stephenson Dining Room on the Limestone College campus.

Club President Phil Orr introduced Dr. Richard Waugh, who served as governor of Rotary District 7750 in 2006-2007.

Dr. Waugh, who resides in Aiken, spoke on the Paul Harris Foundation and the international service projects supported as well as three service scholarships that have been awarded to students at Wofford College and Furman University to serve in underdeveloped countries.

Paul Harris Fellows are recognized within Rotary as having contributed $1,000 to the Foundation. Eradication of polio is one of Rotary International's goals.

There are remote sections of four countries where polio still flourishes.

The Gaffney Rotary Club serves the community and South Carolina and helps support international projects in Third World countries.
