Rev. Johnny Hoyle "Boby" Littlejohn
Rev. Johnny Hoyle Littlejohn, affectionately called "Boby", 87, of 223 Camelia Circle, husband of Azalee Terrell Littlejohn, passed on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at 3:15 p.m. at his home.
Son of the late George Littlejohn and the late Mollie Montgomery Littlejohn, he was born on March 11, 1921, in Gaffney. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Velma Clairee Littlejohn, and two sisters, Maggie Littlejohn and Lillian Littlejohn.
He was first married to the former Essie Mae Brown and to this union seven children were born. She preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 1991. In 1998, he was married to the former Azalee Terrell.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. After being called in the ministry, he served as pastor of Philadelphia Baptist Church of Gaffney; Cumming Street Baptist Church
of Spartanburg;
Light Oak Baptist
Church of Shelby, N.C.; Mount Rowell Baptist Church of Union; Fairview Baptist Church of Chester; and Mount Zion Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, N.C. Over these years, he baptized all six of his children. He was a 1985 retired employee of Timken Company. He was a former employee of the Cherokee County Schools. He was a member of the NAACP. Rev. Littlejohn was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Larry Littlejohn (Frances) of Gaffney and Elvrett Bernard Littlejohn (Monica) of Orlando, Fla.; four daughters, Patricia Kennerson of Norfolk, Va., Vivian Spencer (Curtis) of Fort Washington, Md., Alice Wilkins (Bishop Ronnie) of Gaffney,and Mrs. Donna Jenkins (Parney) of Washington, D.C.; his brother, Bobby Littlejohn (Anita) of Spartanburg; 14 grandchildren and two of them were reared as his sons, Charles Anthony Wade of Jacksonville, Fla., and George Vincent Wade of Gaffney; 18 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; his step-mother, Christine Littlejohn of Gaffney; his step-sister, Margie Knuckles of Gaffney; a niece reared as a sister, Annie Grace Johnson of Jamaica Queens, N.Y.; a god-daughter, Lillie Jones of Lynn, Mass.; and a host of other relatives.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Judith Knox officiating. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. until noon.
Following the service, the family will be at the home of Larry and Frances Littlejohn, 1205 Leadmine Road, Gaffney.

Rev. Littlejohn was a loving father, husband, brother and a kind friend. He contributed love, happiness, encouragement and inspiration to all of his family and friends.
