Committee members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy met recently at the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum to finalize plans for Volume II of their book, I Know What I Know - Stories of the Confederate Years.

Volume I contained first-hand accounts of the soldiers' lives through letters and other correspondence sent to their families.

"We received so many letters and stories that we felt a second volume was needed," said Miriam Ivey, president of the group.

Volume II will include historic places, monuments, poetry, art, ghosts and haunted places and, of course, the women's role which is called petticoat power.

"We anticipate this book will be received and enjoyed as well as Volume I, "said Arlene Parrish, a committee member.

"The committee has been very dedicated to this project and we look forward to having books availa ble for sale in early 2009," said Ann Shugart.
