WHAT'S UP Church news True Gospel Independent Baptist Church, 312 Pondfield Road, will have a singing Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. featuring The Swansons. Central Baptist Church will present Joyful Sound from North Greenville University in concert on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. Shady Grove Baptist Church's YWA will have Senior Citizen's Day on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. The Rev. L.C. Knuckles, associate minister at Shady Grove, will speak. The Senior Hymn Choir and the All Male Choir will present special music. Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls, will have a singing Sunday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m. featuring Bluegrass Revival. Ebenezer Baptist Church will have its annual Senior Citizen Day on Sunday, Nov. 23, during the 11:15 a.m. service. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Jeffrey Dawkins, associate minister of New Mount Zion Baptist Church. Seniors will be in charge of the program and present special music. Each senior citizen will be presented a gift. The All Male Choir of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 19th anniversary Sunday, Nov. 23, at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Bryant Cheeks, pastor of Springfield Baptist Church, Laurens. Suck Creek Baptist Church will celebrate its 156th anniversary Sunday, Nov. 23, with a special service at 4 p.m. Speaker will be the Rev. Arthur J. Smith, pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Lake Lure, N.C. Rev. Smith will be accompanied by his church family. There will be a special service Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at New Harvest Ministries, 215 Pecan St. Speaker will be Ron Parris. The YWAs of Bethel Baptist Church will sponsor a prayer breakfast Saturday, Nov. 22, at 8 a.m. in the church dining hall. Speaker will be Verlinda Mintz, an associate minister of Concord Baptist Church. Fund raisers The WMU of Beaverdam Baptist Church will have a bake Saturday, Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 a.m. at Buford Street Drug Store. Blacksburg Ladies Auxiliary 4941 will have a yard sale Saturday, Nov. 22, from 7 a.m. until noon at the Post located on Brugg Street. Proceeds will go to the Cherokee Children's Home. Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church in Blacksburg is selling tickets for a chicken/fish fry to raise money for a Montana mission trip. Plates are $8 and include a choice of chicken tenders, flounder fillet or a combination of both, plus fries, hush puppies, slaw and sauces. The event will be Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4-7 p.m. Eat-in or take out. Tickets must be purchased in advance; to order call Ellen Owen, 864-839-5047.
