Betty W. George

Retired from Timken

PACOLET MILLS - Betty Jean Worthy George, 78, of 271 Walker Ave., died Tuesday,

Nov. 18, 2008, at her home.

Born March 15, 1930, in Spartan- burg, she was the

widow of

Eber Allen George Jr. and daughter of the late William Thomas and Hester Ninon Lovings Worthy. She was retired from Timken Bearing Company and an active member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Elaine George Webb and her husband, Jimmy, of Gaffney; two sons, Joe Allen George and his wife Judy, of Gaffney and Michael (Mike) Earl George and his wife, Betsy, of Spartanburg; two brothers, Doyle Worthy and Robert Worthy, both of Pacolet Mills; four sisters, Gail Winstead, Hazel Albright, both of Pacolet Mills, Audrey Gilmer of Pacolet and Jo Ann Dutton of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and Tippy.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. George was predeceased by two sisters, Kathleen Goforth and Faye Burns; and three brothers, Charles (Tom), Leon and Earl Worthy.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Howard Pless and Norman L. Band. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, P.O. Box 660, Pacolet Mills, S.C. 29373; to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29302; to Mobile Meals Service, P.O. Box 461, Spartanburg, S.C. 29304; or to SRMC Hospice Special Needs Fund, 120 Heywood Ave., Suite 300, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302.
