      Girl Scout Troop 2613 of Berry Memorial Baptist Church put together six shoe boxes for Samaritan Purse's Operation Christmas Child on Nov. 23. "The girls really had a great time choosing just the right gifts for the boxes and packing them," said troop leader Dora Bowman.

      Dear Annie: Good friends of ours visit frequently, often staying in our home three or four days. We welcome their visits, but recently the wife has begun wearing low-cut blouses revealing lots of cleavage. I am very uncomfortable with this, especially because she likes to lean over, revealing even more.

World AIDS Day set for Dec. 1
      COLUMBIA - World AIDS Day events will be observed throughout South Carolina on Dec. 1. "Free or low-cost rapid tests for HIV will be offered at numerous locations in Department of Health and Environmental Control's county public health departments and community based agencies on and around this special day," said Dr. Andre Rawls, director of DHEC's STD/HIV Division.

      Holiday hours The Cherokee County Public Library and the Blacksburg Public Library will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, through Saturday, Nov. 30, and will reopen Monday, Dec. 1. The Cherokee County History and Arts Museum will be open by appointment only Nov. 26-29 and Dec. 24-27, and will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan.1.
