Former Gaffney resident joins the Alzheimer's CURE Foundation

Marlene Morgan Marlene Morgan, Associate Treasurer of the Carolina Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, has become a part of the Alzheimer's CURE Foundation, Inc.

"We welcome Marlene into our very prestigious Advisory Committee", said Effie Marie Lascarides, Founder and President of the Alzheimer's CURE Foundation. "Her love for her sister, Kathleen, who was recently diagnosed, and her passion for the cure of Alzheimer's and dementia in general have joined our paths into a common goal - that of the Alzheimer's cure", she continued.

"I am so excited about this amazing organization, the passion behind it for the cure and the ground-breaking concept. When Marie asked me to join the Advisory Committee, I welcomed the opportunity to become a part of history in the making," Morgan said. "This is the first time that a health-related organization is employing the 'competition/reward after success' concept and I am so hopeful that things will begin to move rapidly towards the Alzheimer's cure so that my sister will benefit from it - not to mention many millions of Americans and millions more world-wide with Alzheimer's and other dementias," she added. "I discovered the Alzheimer's CURE Foundation, Inc. by a freak accident, in one of my darkest moments, and I know in my heart I was destined to become a part of it," Morgan continued. "Now I feel as though I have an additional purpose in life and I am not just a bystander waiting for things to happen - as though God has sent me here for a purpose."

The Alzheimer's CURE Foundation, Inc. (www.alzcure.org), is a public, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a huge vision and a unique strategy. Their mission is to dramatically accelerate the cure for Alzheimer's and other dementias while at the same time supporting education and creating public awareness. Morgan, along with her husband, Eddie, and son, John, are former residents of Gaffney. Marlene worked nine years in the Accounting Department for The Gaffney Ledger. It was during her time with the Ledger she credits acquiring abilities and skills that have followed her professional career.
