Thomas Kitchens

Retired from Brown & Weave

Thomas Weldon Kitchens, 76, of 164 Garvin Lake Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at his home.

Born in Cliffside, N.C., he was the son of the late James Henry Kitchens and Beulah Elizabeth Mize Kitchens. He was retired

from Brown &

Weave, a retired

National Guard and U.S. Army veteran, and a member of Christian Heights Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, James Kitchens of Gaffney; two daughters, Rachel Harrelson and husband, Marshall, and Rebecca Childers, all of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Crystal Childers, Elisha Scruggs, Ronald Porter and Crystal Porter; a great-grandchild, Mary Alice Peeler; a brother, James H. Kitchens Jr. and wife, Geneva, of Gaffney; two sisters, Nora K. Vinesett and husband, Bobby, of Blacksburg and Helen Roberts of Gaffney.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kitchens was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Crosby.

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Kanipe. Visitation was from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Christian Heights Baptist Church, 605 Sixth St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family will be at residence.
