18-year-old man arrested

An 18-year-old Lincoln Street man was arrested Nov. 25 on charges of simple assault and malicious injury to property following a dispute outside a South Oliver Street apartment.

According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, an officer went to the apartment complex and was speaking to two women at the scene when 18-year-old Mikel Anthony Dillard got out of a car and allegedly charged at one of the women. Police said Dillard was restrained by another person but continued to go after the woman, forcing the officer to step between them. Police said in the report the officer grabbed Dillard and asked him to stop but ultimately wrestled Dillard to the ground to place him in handcuffs. Dillard was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center.
