Johnson believes testing ban could hinder catch-up efforts
      Most rule changes and other big-issue decisions in NASCAR eventually seem to wind up helping the stronger teams get stronger. But the testing ban may be a little different. The ban, which takes effect in January, prohibits teams from testing at any track that hosts NASCAR touring-series races.

Playoffs are family affair for Blackburg coach
      Blacksburg coach Mickey Moss faced a difficult decision last Friday when it came time to hit the road for the playoffs. Instead of preparing his own team for a game, Moss had two sons coaching in playoff games. His son, Mike, is a running backs coach for Myrtle Beach while his son, Matt, coaches the offensive line for Manning.

      The Newberry Indians will be reaching back into history when they travel to Limestone on Saturday. The Indians will be trying to go 5-0 for the first time since 1981-'82. "They are real talented," Limestone men's basketball coach Brandon Scott said. "They have two Division I transfers and one of the best players in the (SAC 8).

      Donovan McNabb got pulled for Kevin Kolb again. This time, he earned a seat on the bench with a superb performance instead of a stinker. McNabb threw four touchdown passes, Brian Westbrook tied a team record with four scores and the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Arizona Cardinals 48-20 on Thursday night.

Titans crush winless Lions
      The Tennessee Titans wanted to re-establish the run to get back on track after losing for the first time. The Detroit Lions were very accommodating. Chris Johnson ran for 125 yards and scored twice in the first quarter and LenDale White had two touchdowns in the second and finished with 106 yards rushing, setting up Tennessee for a 47-10 win over Detroit on Thursday.
